IOWA CITY, Iowa — A Bettendorf teen got to celebrate his 15th birthday as the Kid Captain at the Iowa vs Iowa State game in Iowa City on Saturday, Sept. 10.
Parker Kress has been battling Ewing's sarcoma, an aggressive form of cancer, at the University of Iowa Children's Hospital but on Saturday, he was happy to be part of a new fight: Watching his favorite team battle the Iowa State Cyclones.
"I feel like part of the team. Well, they welcome me like part of the team. It means a lot because I've been cheering them on for years, and now they're cheering me on. It's amazing. I looked around and there were so many people. It felt like I was about to go play on the field," said Parker.
