MOLINE, Illinois — People who live along the Rock River in Moline are wondering about some mystery muck that showed up along the shoreline. It appeared the morning of Friday, Sept. 9, in front of houses on North Shore Drive.
Lee Ehlers says he's seen the stuff just a few times before, and is hoping someone can tell him what it is.
"This year lately has been the worst, this is the second time this week and it's smaller right now, but it actually filled this whole area up. It started last night after dark sometime," said Ehlers.
We showed a picture to a water expert, who says it looks like organic material that may have been whipped up with all the recent rain, but the only way to know for sure is it to have a sample tested.
