CLINTON COUNTY, Iowa — One person has died after a tractor and semi collided Thursday, Sept. 8, in Clinton County.
The Clinton County Sheriff’s Office says both the tractor and semi were headed northbound on Highway 61 at 197th Street when the semi struck the back of the tractor, throwing the driver.
Both drivers were transported by ambulance to Genesis hospital in DeWitt, but the driver of the tractor died of their injuries, say police.
The driver of the farm tractor was identified as Steven R. Welsh, 68, of rural Dewitt.
The driver of the semi was identified as Charles C. Culp, 62, of Des Moines. Culp was treated for minor injuries at an area hospital.
The accident remains under investigation.
