WHITESIDE COUNTY, Illinois — A semi driver was cited after crashing at the intersection of West Lincolnway and Emerson roads in Whiteside County.
Police say Steven Portner, 64, of Sterling, was driving eastbound around 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 7, when he lost control on the wet pavement and the semi skidded into the south ditch, colliding with a utility pole.
Portner refused medical attention on scene. He was issued a citation for driving too fast for conditions, says the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office.
