DAVENPORT — A Davenport man has been arrested and charged with murder as a result of a domestic disturbance that occurred on Aug. 31.

Thomas J. Lopez, 55, is charged with first degree murder, willful injury causing serious injury and domestic abuse – impeding air flow. He was arrested on Sunday, Sept. 4.

According to police, Lopez assaulted his live-in girlfriend, Melissa Lewis, on Aug. 31 following a verbal argument. The incident report states Lopez slapped the victim across the face and choked her, then pushed her down, causing her to hit her head on a window sill.
