DES MOINES COUNTY, Iowa — A rural Des Moines County man who threatened to shoot his neighbor was arrested Tuesday, Sept. 6.
Eric Meyer, 47, was arrested and charged with going armed with intent, a Class D felony.
Deputies responded to a call along a stretch of county road near Lake Geode park around 1 p.m. Tuesday after a neighbor reported being threatened by Meyer. The caller said Meyer was armed with a long gun and was on foot heading toward another residence.
At 1:10 p.m. deputies saw Meyer emerging from some woods near the house of the neighbor he allegedly threatened. The deputies located a loaded .22 magnum rifle near Meyer.
Police said Meyer is a convicted felon, which led to further charges. According to court records, Meyer was convicted of possession of a firearm by a felon in May, 2016.
