BETTENDORF, Iowa-- The top runners in the Quad Cities laced up Monday, August 5, in an annual Run with Carl, 5 mile and 5k race.
The event honors Pleasant Valley High School freshman, Carl Schillig, who was hit by a car and killed in 1994.
The Schillig family originally organized the event until last year, handing it off to the Pleasant Valley Educational Foundation and the Bettendorf Community Schools Foundation.
The money raised during the race is used to help local students.
The male and female winners of the 5 mile race are 34-year-old, Jennifer Paul and 26-year-old Devin Allbaugh.
Winners of the 5k are 26-year-old Sarah Paul and 53-year-old David Bailey.
