Rauner makes police interaction a mandatory driver’s ed lesson

SPRINGFIELD, Illinois — There are new lessons for Illinois students taking driver's education. Teachers will soon be required to show students how to interact with police in case they're pulled over.

Gov. Rauner has signed a law that makes it a mandatory part of driver's education in Illinois. Instructors must teach students how to react to and interact with a police officer.

Schools must begin teaching the required material by the 2017 school year.
