A Quad City couple is headed to Baton Rouge to bring supplies for displaced pets, and is hoping to pack their vintage camper and pick-up to the brim.
"We are both such animal lovers that we knew this was what we wanted to do. If we have to drive 984 miles, then, that's what we're going to do," said Pam Fisher, of Milan.
Fisher and her husband, Dan Applequist are leaving for Louisiana on Tuesday, September 6 to hand deliver desperately needed cat and dog supplies.
She's been in contact with a cat sanctuary that lost everything, and a no-kill animal shelter as well.
"We need dog food, cat food, snacks, treats. We need leashes, bowls, kitty litter," Fisher said.
Baton Rouge area shelters have been swamped with hundreds of pets who don't have houses to call home anymore.
"I really, really, hope we can deliver the lost pets to lost parents. I want to be a part of that,", she said.
The couple is planning on staying a week, to help wherever they are needed.

Donations are also being accepted through Saturday at Two Rivers Massage at 1411 6th Avenue in downtown Moline. Two Rivers will be closed this Sunday and Monday for Labor Day.
