Driver of white Cadillac wanted in Sterling hit-and-run

STERLING — Police are looking for the driver of a white Cadillac that struck several vehicles during a hit-and-run crash on Aug. 29.

According to police, the Cadillac was driven by Randall W. Shankel, 25, who fled the scene. They do not know his city of residence.

The accident occurred a little before 8 a.m. Monday, at the intersection of 7th Street and Avenue F. The car driven by Shankel failed to yield at the intersection and struck a car driven by a Sterling woman. The Cadillac then collided with several unoccupied vehicles on 7th Street. No one was injured in the accident.

The abandoned Cadillac was found by police in the 700 block alley between Locust Street and 1st Avenue.

Shankel has a fairly extensive criminal record that includes carrying a firearm at school, driving under the influence, driving while revoked and other traffic and criminal complaints.
