Undeclared milk in sausage product prompts recall

Ready-to-eat pork and chicken sausage products are being recalled because of an ingredient not declared on the packaging.

According to the Food Safety Inspection Service, more than 18,600 pounds of the following product is being recalled:

13.5 ounce packages of “Land O’ Frost Simply Savory Bacon & Cheddar Smoked Sausage” —  BEST BY: DEC. 04 2016

The sausage products were made on June 7, 2016.  According to the FSIS, they contain cheddar cheese.

“As a result, milk is not included in the ingredients statement of in the “Contains” allergen declaration,” said the FSIS statement.

18,672 pounds of pork and chicken sausage products are being recalled because they include milk but the label doesn’t show that.

The ready-to-eat sausage products were made on June 7, 2016. The product has establishment number is “EST. 45411”. The item was shipped nationwide.

 

 

There have not been any reports of illness related to this product.
