Rock Island business put together care packages for troops overseas

ROCK ISLAND, Illinois — Workers at Modern Woodmen in Rock Island are sending supplies to troops overseas. Employees put together care packages for the military members on Friday, Aug. 26.

Each box included snacks, shampoo and games, as well as a note thanking them for their service.

It's all part of the Be An Everyday Hero Project to recognize first responders and the men and women who serve our country.

"It's about helping our community, about serving our community, about improving quality of life and making a difference. So when our employees get to see that firsthand and do that firsthand, it's overwhelming," said Michelle Opsahl with Modern Woodmen of America.

Employees put together nearly 400 care packages Friday afternoon.
