River Roots Live kicks off with tunes, barbecue

DAVENPORT, Iowa — River Roots Live kicked off Friday evening, Aug. 26, with live music and barbecue. Set up was underway all afternoon at LeClaire Park in Davenport. Bands will play until midnight on Friday and Saturday night.

If you come hungry, be sure to check out RibFest happening at the same time. Admission gets you in to both events. National and local barbecue vendors have set up shop at the other end of the park.

"That's what this is about, it's a good way to come down and enjoy some great music, great food, grab a cold drink and sit by the Mississippi River. Its beautiful out here," said Jason Gilliland, Downtown Davenport Partnership.

And for the first time this year, if you're only interested in the food, you can get into RibFest for free. Just go to the entrance furthest from the stage.
