Three teens in a stolen car apprehended in Bettendorf

After fleeing, the driver struck another car.

BETTENDORF — Three Davenport teens were caught in a stolen car by Bettendorf police Thursday afternoon.

According to police, officers spotted the three teens in a 2004 silver Pontiac Sunfire that had been reported stolen in Davenport on Wednesday. When police attempted to stop the vehicle near the intersection of I-74 and Spruce Hills Drive, the driver attempted to flee but crashed into another vehicle.

The driver, a 16-year-old female, along with two passengers (both 15-year-old males) tried to run but where caught by officers arriving on the scene. All three were taken into custody, although one of the males who complained of pain after the accident was transported to the hospital.

The pair that were in police custody following the accident were released to their parents. They face charges in juvenile court.
