ROCK ISLAND — Potential candidates interested in running for municipal office in the city of Rock Island can pick up election packets beginning Aug. 30.

Offices eligible for the 2017 election include: Mayor, 1st Ward Alderman, 3rd Ward Alderman, 5th Ward Alderman, and 7th Ward Alderman.

Packets can be picked up at the city clerk’s office, 1528 3rd Avenue, starting at 8 a.m. Aug. 30. The packets include general information about the election and the forms necessary to submit an official nomination.

The primary election for municipal candidates is Feb. 28 and the consolidated election is April 4.

Filing for all candidates will be held the week of Nov. 21-28 in the city clerk’s office between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. with the exception of Nov. 25, which is the Thanksgiving holiday.
