URBANDALE, Iowa -- A jail escapee was captured after a high speed chase and a three-vehicle crash in Warren County.

Authorities said 26-year-old Scott Grimes had escaped from the Warren County Jail in Indianola on Sunday, August 14, 2016.  He had been reportedly traveling with a woman wanted by Missouri authorities.

According to a report by WHO out of Des Moines, Grimes had been traveling with 19-year-old Kayla Schultz.

Around 6 p.m. Monday, August 22, an FBI Task Force spotted the pair and attempted to pull them over, reported WHO.  When they did not cooperate, a high-speed chase ensued and ended with a three-car crash in Urbandale.

Several people were hospitalized after the crash, according to the report.

Both Grimes and Schultz were arrested at the scene, the report said.

WHO reported that Grimes was being held on charges of assaulting a peace officer, theft, burglary, possession of a controlled substance, and providing false information.
