Davenport home fire intentionally set, department believes

The department arrived at a home on E. 11th Street around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, and stayed for about four hours after the fire was put out.

DAVENPORT, Iowa — The Davenport Fire Department says a fire at a home near Palmer chiropractic college was intentionally set.

The department arrived at a home on E. 11th Street around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, and stayed for about four hours after the fire was put out. The fire started in the dining area of the two-story building, says investigators who returned to the building on Thursday.

The circumstances around what started the fire are still under investigation.

The estimated property loss from the fire was more than $35,000.
