CHICAGO (AP) — Gov. Bruce Rauner has signed legislation that sets training standards for those who provide care to people with Alzheimer’s disease.
He signed the measure into law on Monday. It outlines how long caregivers need to be trained and what should be included in the curriculum.
It also establishes advertising guidelines for businesses that provide care to those suffering from the disease or dementia.
Democratic state Sen. Dave Koehler of Peoria was a sponsor. He says it gives senior citizens and their families certainty as they make health choices.
The law takes effect immediately.
