Torrential Rains Bring Historic Floods To Southern Louisiana

LeCLAIRE, IOWA — Civic leaders in LeClaire are asking the public to help them once again help the people of Louisiana deal with a natural disaster.

After Hurricane Katrina in 2005, the LeClaire Iowa Civic Center sent four semi-trailers full of emergency supplies to New Orleans from the Quad Cities. Now, with disastrous flooding in Baton Rouge and other areas of Louisiana, the organization is again asking Quad-Citians to pitch in.

The civic club contacted flood relief organizers in Baton Rouge who supplied them a list of emergency needs.

A fund has been set up at the Blackhawk State Bank in both Iowa and Illinois. People wishing to make a donation can do so online at  http://www.gofundme.com to give monetary donations.   The civic club will also be accepting drop off items.  They can be dropped off  at the LeClaire Civic Center, 127 N Cody Rd, in LeClaire.

An informational meeting will be held at the Civic Center on Wednesday, August 17, at 6:00 pm.  For more information visit The LeClaire Civic Center face book page or the LeClaire Civic Center Website www.leclairecivicclub.org
