SILVIS, Illinois -- Thea Fryer has been working at Hole 8 for six years.
The Davenport native is in charge of using the laser on the green to determine how close the golfer's ball is to the hole. Thea says volunteering at the John Deere Classic is a family affair.
"The in-laws come in from Nashville, Tennessee," said Fryer. "They do fairway laser and we do green-side laser with my husband."
Fryer is one of more than 1,700 volunteers at Deere Run.
