Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores has announced that they will open a store where the former Hancock Fabrics was located, 3911 16th Street. The store offers fabrics, sewing supplies, crafting supplies and finished home decor.

“In everything we do, our goal is to serve our loyal customers. It is that passion that led us to reach out to former Hancock employees regarding opportunities with Jo-Ann. Through opening this new location, we’re thrilled to become a member of the Moline community and continue traditions while inspiring creativity with the help of Team Members who share the same passion,” said Jill Soltau, president and chief executive officer.

Hancock Fabrics started their “going out of business” sales earlier this year in April. The company had filed for bankruptcy in 2007 and closed over 100 stores but was ultimately unable to bounce back. In February 2016, the company once again filed for bankruptcy and announced a restructuring plan.

Hancock Fabrics’ Moline location will close for good Thursday, July 18.

Bankruptcy Court has approved the sale of the online business of Hancock Fabrics, Inc. and its affiliated entities to Michaels Stores, which also means Michaels has bought out their customer database. CLICK HERE for information on opting out of Michaels’ database.

Hancock Fabrics says more information on the online buyout will be available in the next week or so. There’s no word yet on when the Jo-Ann Fabrics store will open in Moline.
