CHARLES CITY, Iowa (AP) — A freight train car that derailed in northern Iowa has rolled into and damaged a trackside tavern called DeRailed. Charles City Police Chief Hugh Anderson says the accident occurred around 4 a.m. Tuesday as crews moved rail cars and changed connections. He says it appears that the track separated and the grain car tipped about 45 degrees into the back of the bar.
No one was in the bar and no injuries were reported, Anderson said.
The owner estimated damage at $10,000. The bar is located at North Grand and 13th avenues near the rail lines.
