CHICAGO, Illinois-The state of Illinois is looking for someone else to run the lottery.
Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner today announced he’s dumping the current company in charge of the lottery and actively seeking a new private management partner.
“It’s a very important step in increasing revenue to fund our schools and to fund our key government services. As you all I think are well aware, our Illinois Lottery has been very poorly run and has failed to meet expectations”, Rauner said at a news conference on Thursday.
Rauner says he’s looking for a company which will attract new lottery players and encouraged bids from firms outside the gaming industry.
