4-H teens fight hunger one meal at a time

They also filled backpacks with food to deliver in communities without meal programs.

ROCK ISLAND, Illinois — A group of local teens is helping fight hunger, one meal at a time.

Rock Island County 4-H Teen Hunger Ambassadors served free lunches for those in need on Wednesday, July 27. It's a monthly project for the group. They also filled backpacks with food to deliver in communities without meal programs.

"It gives us a chance to help everyone also while we give the meal we talk to them and they might not have anyone to talk to. So we can sit down and have conversations with them," said Rashawn Overton, 4-H Teen Hunger Ambassador.

The teens also work with nutrition assistance programs to learn how to cook healthy meals.
