MOLINE, Illinois — Almost 1,700 people in the Illinois Quad Cities are waking up to no electricity in their homes.
Around 7:30 a.m., outages were reported by MidAmerican Energy impacting 1,698 customers in Moline. Additionally, there were dozens in the dark throughout Rock Island County. According to the company’s outage watch map, two outages were causing the problem.
Around 8 a.m., the outages had dropped to 817 in Moline and 33 others throughout Rock Island County.
The outage was caused by a downed primary line found at 38th Avenue and 41st Street, according to a spokesperson from MidAmerican. Workers fixed the issue and service was restored to many in Moline by 9:12 a.m.
At 9:40 a.m., MidAmerican’s outage map showed that 455 customers were still without power in Moline.
A spokesperson from MidAmerican Energy said that crews were out and that there was no word yet on what the cause was.
