DUBUQUE, Iowa (AP) — Authorities at an eastern Iowa regional airport say they’ve confiscated an unloaded handgun from a passenger’s bag.

Cedar Rapids television station KCRG reports that the incident happened Friday morning at the Dubuque Regional Airport. Officials with the Transportation Security Administration say agents found the unloaded .22 caliber gun inside a carry-on bag.

Agents took the gun and let the passenger board a later flight.

The TSA says it is legal to have a gun on a plane as long as it is unloaded, declared to the airline and properly packed inside a locked hard-sided container. Officials say Friday’s incident shut down a security checkpoint for about 10 minutes.
