John Deere lays off 120 workers at East Moline factory

About 120 John Deere employees found out that they will be placed on an indefinite layoff.

EAST MOLINE, Illinois -- About 120 John Deere employees found out that they will be placed on an indefinite layoff.

The layoffs impact employees at John Deere Harvester Works, and was announced on Friday, July 22, 2016, according to a statement from Global Public Relations Director Ken Golden.  The layoffs will take effect on Tuesday, September 6.

There are currently around 1,050 production employees at that factory, said Golden's statement.

Deere will continue to adjust the size of its workforce to meet product demand.
