ROCK ISLAND, Illinois — The Rock Island Police Department is looking for information on two suspicious subjects. The department investigated two complaints of suspicious subjects Friday, July 15. Police say it’s unknown if the two incidents are related, but there are some similarities in the description of the person.

  • At 6:30 a.m., a woman was walking on the sidewalk in the area of 44th Street and 20th Avenue when she saw a newer, red, full-size extended cab pickup truck pull up along the curb. The driver was described as a Hispanic man with a stubbled beard and average build. He motioned for her to approach the truck, and then for her to sit in the truck with him. The woman ignored the driver and continued to walk south as the truck took off north on 44th Street.
  • Around 1:30 a.m., a juvenile female was walking in the area of 30th Street and 31st Avenue when she saw a Hispanic male, described as being in his mid 20s, about 5’7″ with short hair, stubbled beard and heavy build. She said he was wearing a bright blue shirt and red shorts. He walked behind her and touched her arm, but she pulled away and continued walking.

Officers checked the areas for both the vehicle and the subject, but did not find anyone. Officers say they also spoke with residents.
