You may have never heard of Senica's Deer Park Golf Club in Oglesby, Illinois before and that's because it was private for 111 years.
"It's been open since 1904, but it was private up until November of 2015," explains Jesse Cavanaugh, Director of Golf. "We're now open to the public. We have a nice swimming area and a nice driving range."
The golf course is also unique, known as the tale of two 9-hole courses.
"We have two very unique sides to the golf course," he says. "The Clubhouse sits in between two different sides so we have a very wooded area and it's more of a flatter, more open area on the other side."
Jesse says his favorite part of the course is the scenery, surrounded by Matthiessen State Park on the back 9.
"Our signature hole is #16," he explains. "It's a Par 5 along the woods. It's the longest hole on the golf course and the tee shot is the most difficult."
