UPDATE: By 9:30 p.m., crews had restored power to all but 1,600 customers. Ameren expected to have everyone's power on by midnight.
ORIGINAL STORY:
Strong storms knocked out power for roughly 10,000 people in Knox County on Sunday evening.
Ameren Illinois spokesman Brian Bretsch said the wind storm damaged lines on the company's sub-transmission poles. Crews were dispatched beginning at 4:25 p.m.
By 8:15 p.m., only 3,200 customers were still without power.
Bretsch said the company has brought in workers from Peoria and other parts of the state to help with repairs. There were 85 crew members on the ground Sunday night.
