BETTENDORF, Iowa-- City Council will vote Wednesday, July 5 on whether or not to bypass a public bidding process to make emergency sewer repairs along Spruce Hills Drive, between Summit Hills Drive and Woodland Lane.

The Public Works Department is calling this an emergency situation and skipping a public bid they say would speed up the construction.

"You can have back ups into any of these residents homes, the main it self could collapse and if it did it could bring all the soil and everything above it down into it and people's driveways could have failures, the sidewalk would have to be closed and any number of things, even damage to the street potentially," says City Engineer, Brent Morlok.

The repairs are expected to cost more than $50,000.

During the construction traffic on the east bound lane between Summit Hills Drive and Woodland Lane will be reduced to one lane.
