ROCK ISLAND, Illinois — A Rock Island man was found guilty Friday, July 1, of distribution of heroin resulting in death, three counts of distributing heroin and conspiring to distribute heroin resulting in death.
Phil Trent, 51, remains in the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service until sentencing in November, says a statement from United States Attorney James Lewis.
Evidence during trial showed that Trent worked with others to distribute heroin in the Rock Island area in 2014. Evidence also showed that Trent distributed the heroin that caused the death of Tyler Corzette, 21, in August 2014.
Kyle Hull and Curtis Land were also charged in connection to Corzette’s death. Both plead guilty in May 2015 and are scheduled for sentencing July 21, 2016.
Trent faces a minimum of 20 years in prison on each count of distributing heroin that caused death and conspiracy to distribute heroin that caused death, according to the statement.
