SILVIS, Illinois — A monument and park dedicated to our nation's heroes in Silvis could soon get a fresh look. Silvis city leaders say the memorial itself is in good shape, but some of the sidewalks need repair and cleaning.
There is also an idea to add planters for flowers. They believe attention to detail and proper upgrades can attract more visitors.
"We want to put an eye on the park. We're talking about having events down there to bring people down there. In order to do that, you want to put your best foot forward. You want to make it presentable and accessible to everyone," said Mayor Tim Conrad.
Conrad says they may also look at adding a shelter area in the park to use during larger events.
