MOLINE, Illinois-- At least 110 antique cars dating from 1916 to 1972 drove from San Rafael California to downtown Moline, in the 2016 Great Race.
During the race, contestants were not allowed to use a GPS, they were instead given directions and checked in to various check points along the trip to monitor their progress.
"For all these great racers its a wonderful wonderful experience because it's an adventure of a life time that we get to do every year. All the way across South Dakota, Wyoming, Nevada Utah Nebraska... I mean we're having the time of our lives," says Corky Coker, Great Race announcer.
The winner of the race was awarded $50,000.
