Several storm reports from the severe weather on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 include unconfirmed tornadoes.

There were 18 unconfirmed tornadoes reported to the National Weather Service.  These reports come from trained spotters, law enforcement, and emergency managers.  StormTrack 8 Meteorologist Kelsey Woodard says that investigators will need to verify these tornadoes, and some reports could be of the same tornado.

Two funnel clouds were spotted in the northeast corner of Henry County around 7:30 p.m., headed toward Bureau County, according to the National Weather Service.  Unconfirmed tornadoes and damage were reported in Bureau County as the storm progressed.

Shortly before 8 p.m. an unconfirmed tornado touched down and lifted three miles north of Manlius in Bureau County.  About a half hour later, a funnel was spotted near a truck stop in Bureau County. Around that same time, a semi was reported on its side between Princeton and Dover.

Storm reports indicate that property damage was spotted around 8:35 p.m. south of Malden.  Roof shingles were pealed off, trees were snapped, and down, and a corn crop was flattened.  Around 9 p.m. reports of more downed trees as well as power lines were reported.

Survey teams continued to assess damage on Thursday morning.   The Storm Survey Team from the National Weather Service helped the Bureau County Emergency Management Agency with the surveying.  It was expected that results would be available soon.
