MOLINE, Illinois - A deadly incident is hitting close to home for the Quad Cities Bicycle Club. Members say there's always a risk when they hit the roads, but it's not stopping them from doing what they love.

The group is reaching out to help the victim's in Michigan.

Earlier this month, a driver crashed into nine bicyclists, killing five of them and seriously injuring four. The driver was under the influence of a controlled substance.

The Quad Cities Bicyclists Club will join clubs across the country that is taking a ride to remember the victims.

The Club's president says he hopes the ride can also serve as awareness for bicycle safety, "These people were doing exactly what all of our club members do almost every day, they were out riding and enjoying either the bike path or the roads, they were out with their friends and to have someone hit them and kill them it's just almost unbelievable," said Jim Hudson.

The club will hold two different rides on Sunday, June 26th, both starting at Emeis Park in Davenport.
