GALESBURG, Illinois--The "retirement" sign hanging outside Hammer's General Feed Store says it all.

After 35 years of business, the restaurant will officially close Saturday, July 2. However since owner Wayne Hammerschmidt announced his retirement , he says he's seen an uptake in business.

"(Customers) are really sad that I'm closing... they like our Sicilian Pizza so since we announced that we're closing we've been super busy, it's like you're opening up again," says Hammerschmidt.

Many long time customers say they come to the restaurant as much as they can before it's too late.

"I'll miss it tremendously, I usually come in once a week... and it's going to be a big void in my life," says customer, George Courter.

The restaurant will hold an action for the antiques collected over the years on Sunday, July 10.
