New Pickle Ball Courts Open in Davenport Park

NEW PICKLE BALL COURTS IN DAVENPORT ARE NOW OPEN AND IN FULL SWING.

DAVENPORT, Iowa - Eight new Pickle ball courts in Davenport are now open and in full swing.
The "QC Pickle ball Club" held a dedication ceremony at Northwest Park in Davenport Thursday, June 16, 2016 to celebrate the addition of the new courts.

The QC Pickle ball Club started nine years ago with 30 members. Fast forward to today and the club is growing with over 400 members. News 8 caught up with the "QC Pickle ball Club" to find out why the sport is growing in the Quad Cities.

"It's pretty easy to learn and you don't have to be an expert. There are all levels of play," says Pickle ball Club member Chuck Cline.

Players like Barbara Shinbori say the sport is a fun and healthy way to bring communities and families together.

"We encourage people to come here right now and come every morning if you can, there will be somebody here," added Shinbori.

With a little coaching and a paddle board in hand, Pickle ball at Northwest Park is off to a winning start. Anyone can play in the Pickle ball courts during park hours at Northwest Park.
