MOLINE, Illinois - He's been a familiar face in the Quad City community for years and now the community is showing their thanks.
Dexter Johnson is a well-known Moline local and superfan for Moline High School sports. He's attended all their games.
Dexter, who mows lawns as a hobby recently lost his mower. It fell out of his truck and when he went back to look for it, it was gone.
So his neighbor, TC Christopher started a GoFundMe page to buy him a new one.
Within hours the page had raise more than $13,000, way past its goal.
"Its something he likes to do and to see something taken away from him by buddy like that it got to me, that's why I did it," said Christopher.
The extra money will go towards repairs needed at Dexter's home
"Just thank everybody for all this and everything," said Dexter.
