Thousands of energy customers in the Illinois Quad Cities experienced spotty power outages overnight Thursday, June 16, 2016.  Those outages continued in the late morning.

Power was knocked out to around 2,500 customers around 2 a.m. when tree branches hit a power line in the 1100 block of 4th Street in Rock Island, according to a spokesperson from MidAmerican Energy.  Power was back on around 2:45 a.m.

Later in the morning, around 6 a.m., power was cut to those customers again for crews to complete repairs.  This time about 2,200 customers were impacted.

Around 10 a.m. more than 1,600 MidAmerican Energy customers in Rock Island and Moline were in the dark.  The outages were again caused by a tree limb that fell into power lines, according to the company’s outage map.  It was estimated that power would be restored around 11:30 a.m.

By 12:30 p.m. most of the outages were restored. 209 customers in Moline and 67 in Rock Island were left without power.
