DAVENPORT, Iowa — An Indiana man convicted in the armed robbery of a Muscatine bank was sentenced to life in federal prison, reports the Southern District of Iowa.

Thomas Alexander Davis III, 40, was sentenced Thursday, June 16. David had been convicted in 1995 of armed bank robbery and robbery with a deadly weapon in Indiana. Because the two prior robbery convictions qualify as “serious violent felonies” under a federal sentencing statute, this third conviction of robbing U.S. Bank in Muscatine mandated a life sentence.

He is also ordered to serve five years on supervised release, pay restitution and pay $100 special assessment to the Crime Victims Fund.

Evidence had showed that Davis entered U.S. Bank on Nov. 28, 2012, presented the teller with a black bag, demanded money and displayed a handgun. The teller placed money in the bag.

Davis fled with the money and got into a black Cadillac driven by Stacey Fincher. The two drove back to Indiana.

Davis was arrested on Feb. 12, 2015, in Indiana and was found guilty Feb. 11, 2016.

Fincher was given a deferred judgement in Muscatine County after pleading guilty in February 2016 to conspiracy to commit a forcible felony.
