STERLING, Illinois — Three people were charged in connection to the sale of cocaine and heroin in the Sauk Valley Area, though police did not confirm that the arrests were relate.

Three arrested on drug-related charges after Sterling Police search two homes

Two homes were searched Tuesday, June 14, 2016, according to a statement from the Sterling Police Department. One home was where 36-year-old Mia M. Guzman lives, and the other is where Haven B. Klein and Steven R. Jenkins, both 20 years old, live.

Police said they searched Guzman’s home “after an investigation concerning heroin distribution” in the area.  Her charges included unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver heroin, unlawful delivery of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a protected address, and unlawful possession.

At the home where Klein and Jenkins live, police found crack-cocaine, powder cocaine, heroin, packaging and weighing materials, and cash.  Both were charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver heroin and cocaine, and unlawful possession of a controlled substance – including heroin and cocaine.

All three were taken to the Whiteside County Jail and were held in lieu of bond.
