EAST MOLINE, Illinois--It's something Karie Kerr never imagined she'd get to see, her 10-year-old son Kaiden getting on a bicycle.

"The doctors first told us that he might not do anything, just sit in a corner all day and not really do anything," says Kerr.

When Kaiden turned one, he was diagnosed with Cri Du Chat Syndrome.

Now, Kaiden is riding on a special custom training bike in the iCan Shine Bike Camp for kids with disabilities. It's a week long camp teaching kids they can do anything with a little hard work, help and patience.

More than 70 volunteers from all over the Quad Cities came out to help.

"The most amazing part for me is just to really spend time with them and see them firsthand. It's really amazing to watch," says iCan Shine volunteer Allison Van Deventer.

The goal is to have all kids riding a two wheeler by themselves by the end of the week.

And Kaiden is well on his way.

"It's been great. I can't believe he actually rode a bike on his own. I didn't think I'd ever see that. So it was really exciting to see him do that," says Kerr.

The program is put on by the Children's Therapy Center of the Quad Cities.

Last year, 80-percent of the kids were able to ride a two wheeler by the end of the week.
