(CNN) -- Gordie Howe, known as "Mr. Hockey," has died, his son, Marty Howe, told CNN Sports.
Marty Howe said the hockey hall-of-famer, who was a member of four Stanley Cup championship teams with the Detroit Red Wings, died Friday morning, June 10, 2016. He was 88.
Howe suffered a "significant" stroke in 2014.
TMZ Sports reported that Howe had been a 23-time All-Star in the league and played 26 seasons in the NHL. He retired at age 52.
