MOLINE, Illinois-Republican State Sen. Neil Anderson says it’s frustrating , but the no vote he cast on Wednesday’s budget bill was the only right thing to do.

“Sending us a budget, with no reforms. That spends 7 billion dollars more than we take in? It’s laughable”, said the Moline lawmaker.

Anderson, who is also a Moline fireman, returned home from Springfield after a long night in session that lead nowhere, and he says, it’s frustrating.

“Nothing accomplished but political gamesmanship. We witnessed politics at its worst. We see Mike Madigan pass out a 7 billion dollar out- of- balance budget. Not even the Senate Democrats would vote for it”, he said.

Anderson says rank and file lawmakers on both sides of the aisle are probably capable of hammering out a compromise to save the crippled state from crumbling further.

“It’s frustrating. We’re not in leadership meetings. The message you hear from both sides, these working groups, is there’s room for agreement”, he said. “Then, Mike Madigan shuts them down”.

“Both sides play political games to some extent, but two years without a budget? Enough is enough”.
