GENESEO, Illinois-- Kids in Geneseo were the first to try out the town's new swimming pool.
The John and Carla Edwards Aquatic Center opened its doors Saturday, May 28.
The new pool cost the city about $6.5 million, and now features a climbing wall and a low and high diving board. The pool area has been under construction since August. Executive Director of the Geneseo Park District, Molly Hamer says members of the community worked to raise money to help pay for the renovations.
"The community rallied together for a capital campaign that raised 2.5 million dollars to help off set the cost which tells you a lot right there of how much the town wanted the pool," she says.
The pool goes from 0-12 feet, with a poolside room open all year round.
