CHICAGO (AP) — Chicago police say a runner has died after collapsing during a race in Grant Park.
Police say the 39-year-old man was participating in the 3.5-mile J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge when emergency crews were called at about 7:30 p.m. Thursday. The runner wasn’t immediately identified.
Police and fire officials say the runner suffered cardiac arrest and was taken by ambulance to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
J.P. Morgan Chase spokeswoman Christine Holevas says the company is aware of the race participant’s death and expresses “sincere condolences to their family, friends and co-workers.”
