PERU, Illinois – An unrelated investigation led police to file sex crime charges against a man from Peru, Illinois.
Miguel “Mike” Fraga, 47, was accused of having sexual relations with a minor, according to a statement from Illinois State Police. Fraga was charged on three counts including predatory criminal sexual assault and criminal sexual assault; the charges were the result of an investigation involving state and city police as well as the LaSalle County State’s Attorney’s Office.
“Fraga became the subject of the joint investigation following information received by the Peru Police Department in an unrelated case,” the statement said.
Fraga was arrested Wednesday, May 18, 2016, the statement said. His bond was set at $200,000.
Fraga remained held in the LaSalle County Jail as of Thursday afternoon, May 19.
