DES MOINES, Iowa — A new law should help Iowa police agencies communicate better during emergencies.
Gov. Terry Branstad signed off on spending more than $4 million to establish a new statewide communications network. It will allow police agencies to communication on a single system, making it easier to coordinate emergency responses.
"The state is providing a close line across the state, if you chose to hang your clothes you can for coverage we are going to provide 90 percent signal coverage mobile coverage with a radio with this system," said Tom Lamp, Iowa Interoperability Board.
The total cost for the system is estimated at $58 million.
