Teen charged with Rock Island murder pleads not guilty

Kire Carr, the 17-year-old charged in the shooting death of a 15-year-old has pleaded not guilty.

ROCK ISLAND, Illinois -- Kire Carr, the 17-year-old charged in the shooting death of a 15-year-old has pleaded not guilty.

Carr appeared in Rock Island County court on Tuesday, May 10, 2016, where he entered the not guilty plea to first degree murder, court records show. The teen was accused of shooting Jescie Armstrong at a home near 20th Avenue and 5th Street in Rock Island on Wednesday, April 27. 

The day after the shooting, police announced that they were searching for Carr.  He was later captured in Columbus, Ohio.

Carr was being held at Mary Davis Detention Home in Galesburg, Illinois on $1 million bond.  Court records show that a pretrial date was set for June 10, 2016 and a  jury trial has been set for June 27.
